Choosing your way in
Cuevas del Drach tickets
How to get into the Cuevas del Drach: the cave's own timed ticket, the Palma excursion, resort-pickup trips, refund terms and who each one suits.
Choose a date for the Drach caves ↗Quick answer
You can enter the Cuevas del Drach in two ways. The caves sell their own timed tickets online, in their app and at the ticket office, with the concert and the lake crossing included. Or you book an excursion, which adds the coach: from Palma, or with pickup from the southern resorts. With a hire car, a direct ticket is the simplest choice. Without one, an excursion is the practical way to reach Porto Cristo.
How entry to the caves works
The Cuevas del Drach let visitors in by time slot. The visit lasts about an hour along a route of roughly 1,200 metres, and it ends at Lake Martel with a live classical concert. Groups walk the route together, and the cave does not allow independent wandering. It asks you to arrive about 15 minutes before your slot. Holders of online or app tickets go straight to the cave entrance and skip the ticket office. Everything below comes back to those facts: a booked slot, one route in a group, one concert near the end of it.
The cave's own ticket
The caves sell tickets online, in their app and at the ticket office, but not by phone. Online and app tickets cost less than the office's, and they go on sale about 30 days ahead. The cave gives no discounts to residents or large families, and it takes no coupons. The ticket covers the visit, the concert and the crossing of Lake Martel, by boat or over the bridge. Changes and refunds are not accepted, which the cave states during online purchase. Book this way if you are driving to Porto Cristo and your date is settled. At the ticket office the cave accepts credit cards. The cave also points out that buying online lets you choose your visit time and spares you the print-out.
- Channels: website, app and ticket office, never by phone.
- Online and app tickets are cheaper than the office's.
- No changes and no refunds once bought.
The Palma excursion on this site
The main ticket here is a coach excursion that starts at a central meeting point in Palma. It includes fast-track entry to the caves, the live concert and the boat ride on Lake Martel. A guide travels with the group and speaks Spanish, English, German and French, and the group spends a little over two hours at the site. Inside, the visit is self-guided. Lunch and drinks are not included, and an optional stop at a pearl exhibition is offered. The whole trip takes about five hours, and the confirmation shows the meeting point and start time for your date. If you reach Palma by car, the excursion's notes mention the Parc de la Mar car park.

The excursion with resort pickup
A second excursion collects guests from resorts in the south of Mallorca, among them Arenal, Can Pastilla, Magaluf, Santa Ponsa and Paguera. The pickup may be at a nearby stop, not at your hotel door, and the operator emails the stop after you book. It includes the coach, a guide speaking five languages, entry to the caves and a visit to a pearl factory. A longer option adds the Caves of Hams and free time in Porto Cristo. It is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments, and it takes between four and eight hours depending on the option.
What fast-track means here
Fast-track entry on an excursion means your ticket is bought in advance, so you skip the ticket queue. The cave itself says the same about its online tickets: holders go straight to the entrance and avoid the ticket office. So an excursion does not buy you a quicker route than a direct online ticket. What it adds is the transport, the guide on the coach and one booking to manage. Every visitor still enters at a set time and walks the route in a group, and the concert plays at the same point of the route for everyone, whichever ticket they hold.
Choosing between them
The right ticket depends on how you are travelling, not on what you see, because the visit inside the caves is the same for everyone. The useful questions are practical ones: whether you have a car, where you sleep, how long you want the trip to take, and whether you want a booking you can cancel. If you want only a plain cave ticket, the nearby Caves of Hams sell one, but it is a different cave. Whichever you pick, check the option's name on the booking page before paying.
- Hire car: buy the cave's own ticket once your date is certain.
- Staying in Palma without a car: the Palma excursion.
- Staying in a southern resort: the excursion with resort pickup.
- A second cave on the same trip: a full-day option, or a separate Hams ticket.

What the excursion leaves out
An excursion is a package, and a package has edges. Lunch and drinks are not included, so bring money for the bar by the gardens or eat afterwards in Palma. Inside the caves the visit is self-guided: the group walks the route in its own time slot, and the guide on the coach does not lecture along the path. The excursion is built to bring you back to Palma in the early afternoon, so it leaves no time for Porto Cristo's harbour or beach. If you want those, a car and the cave's own ticket give you the whole day.
What travellers say
Travellers who took the Palma excursion praise the guides' knowledge, the scenery inside the cave and the classical concert, and many describe the day as worthwhile and easy to arrange. The most common suggestion is practical: clearer queuing and crowd flow inside the cave, especially for the boat across the lake. That fits the cave's own set-up, in which timed groups meet at the same points of the route. Treat it as a reason to arrive early and listen to the staff, not as a reason to skip the visit. One traveller adds that the group is moved through the caves at a steady pace, which they found appropriate.
Cancellation, payment and dates
Both excursions on this site carry free cancellation until 24 hours before the start, and you can hold either now and pay afterwards. The cave's own tickets cannot be changed or refunded. That difference matters if your plans are loose: a cancellable excursion costs nothing to hold, while a direct ticket is a firm commitment. The cave opens in every season, but its opening times change with the time of year, and it sells slots about 30 days ahead. Pick the date first, then the option, and read the meeting point on the confirmation. The booking page shows the live fare.
On the day
Arrive early, with your confirmation on your phone. Bring a light layer, because the caves stay between 17 and 21 °C, and wear shoes with grip. Bring no food or drink into the caves, and no tripods or selfie sticks. Phone photos without flash are fine along the route, but not during the concert. Children under 12 must stay with an adult. Toilets are at the entrance and exit only, so use them before you go down, and leave bulky luggage and buggies behind, because neither can enter the caves. The cave also has a bar, a shop and a picnic area outside.
Who this isn't for
Wheelchair users and families with buggies cannot come in, because the route has steps and a rail. The cave does not recommend the visit for people with heart conditions or claustrophobia. If you want a long, slow visit, a timed group route will feel brisk, and some travellers say they would have liked more time inside. And if you have no car and want the cheapest way across the island, public buses run from several towns, but you must plan the connections yourself and expect a longer day than the coach. Last, anyone who needs flexibility on the date should avoid the cave's own ticket until plans are firm, because it cannot be moved.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a ticket office at the caves?
Yes, but office tickets cost more than online or app tickets. The cave recommends buying online to avoid queues and availability problems.
Is the concert included?
Yes. The cave's ticket includes the live concert on Lake Martel and the crossing of the lake by boat or over the bridge. The excursions on this site include them too.
Can I get a refund on the cave's own ticket?
No. The cave accepts no changes or refunds on its tickets. Both excursions on this site can be cancelled until 24 hours before they start.
How far ahead should I book?
Tickets go on sale about 30 days ahead. The cave says online tickets avoid availability problems, so reserve once your dates are settled.
Is there a plain Drach caves entry ticket on this site?
No. The Palma excursion includes entry but also the coach. The cave's own ticket is sold at the cave, not here.
